The students of the Zilla Parishad (ZP) High School at K. Kotapadu in the district listened in rapt attention as the Inspector General of Police Killada Satyanarayana of the Crime Investigation Department, AP, inspired them with his thought-provoking talk.
The IG camefrom Hyderabad to visit the village, located about 40 km from the Visakhapatnam city on Monday to participate in the ‘Grameena Vidya Jyothi – 2016’, organised by the Sangamithra Rural Development Society (SRDS) to motivate rural students to aim high in life.
“Many of you might be nurturing feelings like ‘we are from a rural background,’ ‘we have little resources’ and ‘lack of amenities’. All these are excuses that stem from inferiority complex and a positive attitude is necessary to overcome such thoughts.”
“I too hail from a village near Narsipatnam and my parents were uneducated. I couldn’t even ask my father for Rs.2,000 for studies. The atmosphere at home was not conducive to study. I used to sit in the front yard of my uncle’s house nearby during the evening and in the shade of trees during the day and prepare for the examination,” Mr. Satyaranarayana recalled.
“Students in urban areas and cities have to breathe polluted air and bear most of their spare time is either used to watch TV or talking on the mobile phone. Keep away from these distractions and play in the open during your spare time and hone your skills in sports and games as they keep you fit and mentally strong for studies.”
Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Tax, Visakhapatnam, T. Sivasankar Rao, addressed the students on career opportunities.
SRDS president and an Assistant Professor in Andhra Medical College Bandaru Ramachandra Rao also spoke.
