One more domestic violence case has come to light with the victim approaching the city police for help. She alleged that she had been tortured by her husband, his girlfriend and his sister.
Lavanya of JN Road here got married to V. Raja Appa Rao working in Bangalore. His parents reside in Kakinada.
Lavanya narrated the ordeal she had undergone in the presence of Central DSP G. Janaki Sharmila on Friday. With a bandage on head and right ear and several scars on her body, she was too terrified to name her tormentors.
She managed to escape from the house with the help of her brother who rushed to Bangalore from Rajahmundry.
According to the FIR registered in KR Puram Sub-Division police office, Lavanya and Raja Appa Rao got married in 2008. He took a huge sum as dowry. After the marriage he made Lavanya stay in his sister's house in Thotagudadahalli in Bangalore.
For the last one year, Appa Rao had been closely moving with another woman, his office colleague, which Lavanya resented. The two women then allegedly started beating up Lavanya, asking her to leave Appa Rao.
“They beat me and broke my fingers. They also beat me on my head, resulting in bleeding. Three days ago they pulled my ear with a cutting plier,” she said, weeping inconsolably.
The DSP said the Bangalore police arrested Appa Rao and his girlfriend but the woman managed to get bail. On the petition of Lavanya, the case would be transferred to Rajahmundry.
