Vizag Development Council vice-president O. Naresh Kumar has sought specific allocation for setting up Electronic Manufacturing Cluster at Jagannadhapuram village in Parawada mandal.

He said the project was sanctioned last year for which the APIIC had identified 100 acres in Survey No. 26. The project is supposed to get a sanction of Rs.114 crore.

He said Electronics Manufacturing Cluster Scheme notified in 2012 would extend support for developing world-class infrastructure for both Greenfield and Brownfield units. The scheme envisages Central allocation.

A special purpose vehicle should be formed to implement the scheme, he said. As per norms, the SPV would look after business development, operations and maintenance. Under a Central government initiative, complete broadband facility was provided to all panchayats in Parawada mandal.

Mr. Naresh Kumar said the proposals for assistance under the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster Scheme would be cleared by competent authority after consideration by the Steering Committee for Clusters to be constituted by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology.
