Sanitation, gardening and security wings of Andhra University have the most important role in keeping the health of campus in a good shape, Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana said here on Tuesday.
“A visitor gets impressed by the greenery and cleanliness of the campus and AU has been credited with these qualities. Make our university a model for other universities in the country,” Prof. Satyanarayana said while inaugurating a one-day workshop on public health, sanitation and environment for the sanitation, security and gardening staff of AU.
He added that the good NAAC grade received by the university was also due to the cleanliness, hygiene and greenery on the campus and the university was indebted to the three wings on this score.
The workshop was organised by the AP Pollution Control Board's Zonal Office in association with Department of Environmental Sciences.
Executive Council Member Sridevi presided.
Environmental Engineer of APPCB K. Srirama Murthy said this meeting was first of its kind and meant to explain to the stakeholders their importance in an important task. AU campus has been able to eliminate plastic to a large extent and should avoid it totally and become a role-model to other universities, Mr. Srirama Murthy said.
HoD and director of the workshop E.U.B. Reddi said one must raise 60 trees in his or her life time to get oxygen required by him or her to live.
Prof. K. Kameswara Rao, Dr. Balakishna and others spoke. Dean (security and sanitation) Krishna and others were present.
