Valentine’s Day: eight couples stage a show

February 15, 2013 09:37 am | Updated 09:37 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The city witnessed couples of all age-group celebrating Valentine’s Day in their own way. But for some, the day seems to be apt to deliver a message in the form of skits and cultural programmes.

Showcasing immature love among youngsters, Miracle Dance Academy (MDA) in association with Wellfare Group of Companies (WGC) organised a skit -- love is beautiful but life is careful – here on Thursday at Kalabharati Auditorium.

A total of eight couples staged a show on how young girls were getting carried away with puppy love and how boys turn out to be violent when their proposal was turned down. They staged different consequences of emotional violence like acid attack, slitting of throat, rape attempt and other crimes against women. Girls carried placards that read ‘we want to live as we are’, ‘we have the right to choose’ and ‘we don’t want to be attacked for saying no’, among others.

The event also saw a host of cultural programmes where young students of MDA staged classical dance apart from filmy numbers. Director of MDA Shakeel, director of WGC Sandhyavalli and others also participated.
