The cheerful spirit of Christmas is spreading across the city with various organisations conducting Christmas carols and events to mark the festivities.

The effervescent mood is permeating through the streets of the city with the ubiquitous Christmas tree, decked up with wreaths made from artificial mistletoe, brightly-coloured stockings and colourful twinkling lights dotting the crowded streets of Jagadamba Junction.

Ushering in the yuletide flavour, Rotary Club Visakhapatnam organised a carol singing event at Hotel Palm Beach on Wednesday.

The members of Vizag Chamber Choir group presented many all-time favourites like ‘Joy to the World’.

“We will be singing carols in churches, schools, and other places in the days ahead leading to Christmas,” said Paul Raj Isaac of Vizag Chamber Choir.

The choir group also had a new member from Malaysia, Serene Lim, who is one of the piano players of the choir. The evening also saw members of the Youth For Christ society present an interesting mix of carols and stomp dance.

Earlier, the members of Rotary Club Visakhapatnam presented prizes to Etikopakka artists, who made the Rotary emblem in the traditional Etikopakka form.

In the days ahead, other leading church choirs in the city will also participate in Christmas events.
