U.S. keen on investment in infrastructure: Diplomat

Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs-United States John McCaslin on Thursday said they were looking at investment opportunities in energy, transport and other sectors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

“With several mega projects in the pipeline, we are expecting a lot of opportunities in infrastructure,” he told members of Confederation of Indian Industry here at a session on doing business with the USA.

Stating that India had become a strategic partner of the USA, he said India had become the fourth fastest growing foreign direct investor in their country and invited prospective investors to take part in the Select USA Investment Summit being held in Washington on March 23 and 24.

Visa process

Consular Chief-Visas, USA, Sutton Meagher said they had simplified visa procedures and pointed out that last year they issued six lakh visas.

She said one could fill application form at https:\\ceac.state.gov/ceac, pay fee via mobile phone or electronic fund transfer or cash at Axis or Citibank and schedule two separate appointments online. One should seek visa interview at the US Embassy or Consulate and another for biometric collection at a Visa Application Centre prior to the interview appointment date.

Earlier, they held a meeting with senior officials of Visakhapatnam port to explore investment opportunities.

CII Vizag zone vice-chairman Neeraj Sarda presided. Maple Software CEO G.S. Siva Kumar, RHI Clasil Ltd president R.V.S. Raju and others spoke.
