Youngsters in AP are more talented when compared to their counterparts in other States of India and young entrepreneurs and engineers from the State are starting their own establishments in US and are offering jobs even to Americans, said US Consulate General Cornelis Keur while interacting with students of GITAM University here on Wednesday.
Every year one lakh Indian students, 40 per cent of them from AP, were entering the US to pursue higher studies, Dr. Cornelis Keur said.
Consul’s advice
He advised the students to concentrate on higher studies in the US to enhance their knowledge.
He said that students would be issued visas based on the course duration in the US universities.
In a spot of bother
The economic meltdown had badly affected the US job market and the present job market was not in a good passion, he said and hoped that the situation might improve in the coming years.
He suggested to the students to concentrate more on STEM (science, technology, engineering and management) concept to grow in their career.
Dr. Keur along with his wife Sommay Keur were felicitated by GITAM University.
The US Consulate General interacted with Vice-Chancellor G. Subramanyam, ProVice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana, Registrar M. Potha Raju and Student Affairs Dean C. Dharma Raju. Prof. Subramanyam briefed the US official about the academic activities, ongoing research projects, placemat records and national-level admissions. Dr. Keur visited various departments of GITAM University and appreciated the facilities.
