The 25-year-old girl, who was admitted to King George Hospital on June 29, died on Saturday while undergoing treatment.

The girl, who claimed that her name was Mounica and was reportedly a native of Nellore, collapsed in front of the general booking counter on the Gnannapuram side of the railway station. She was admitted in an unconscious state in KGH by some locals on June 29.

The mystery deepened as she was not able to tell anything apart from her name and place. The only identification that she has on her person is two tattoos on her hands. On one had there is tattoo inscribed in Telugu as ‘Amma’ and on the other there is two English alphabets ‘HR’.

The police are clueless and have sent the details to Nellore to check for missing cases.

As her report of admission in KGH was circulated, the State Legal Services Authority directed its district wing to ensure better treatment for the unidentified girl.

DLSA member S. Damodar and a panel of advocates visited the KGH on Friday and directed the KGH authorities to provide complete medical care to the girl, but despite that she died on Saturday.

According to Superintendent of KGH G. Arjuna, tests were conducted on the girl and she was found to be suffering from brain tumour. There were no other injuries on her body and the doctors ruled out assault or rape. “She probably died a natural death due to the tumour,” said Dr. Arjuna. Meanwhile, the Fifth Town police apart from sending the details and images of the girl to Nellore police have registered a case.
