Bodies of two youths washed ashore and search is on to trace another youth who drowned at sea in separate incidents on Sunday. The outing of four friends of Kobbarithota turned tragic with one of them, Ch. Appalraju drowning at the sea. The four went into the sea and were dragged into the bay. Community guards could save Chandramouli and Ramesh. But Appalraju, a medical representative, and K. Mahesh, who passed SSC and was planning to join polytechnic, were swept off their feet by the waves. Police are still searching for the body of Mahesh. The relatives of Appalraju and Mahesh were seen wailing inconsolably on the beach.

At Rishikonda

In another incident at Rishikonda, Kaki Nagesh, 20, and six others went to the beach. The sea was rough and community guards there warned the seven not to go deep into the sea, it was learnt. Even as the friends were frolicking, the guards went to another side to take care of a drunken group. Meanwhile, Nagesh was dragged in.

His body was caught in the nets set up to caution people and was brought ashore in about half an hour. Nagesh was a carpenter and belonged to Gandhinagar at Arilova.

It was the first incident of drowning at Rishikonda after the tragic death of six GITAM University students one and a half years ago.

The PM Palem police are investigating.
