Two dead, two injured in cracker unit blast

In a blast at an illegal fire cracker manufacturing unit in Narayanpuram in Rambilli mandal, one person died on the spot, another succumbed to burns on the way to a hospital and two others were seriously injured and have been admitted to a hospital. All of them belonged to one family and shed in the adjoining building where the crackers were made is said to have collapsed in the impact of the blast.

Police said, the incident took place in a shed owned by Bhupathi Ramana alias Venkat Ramana, on Monday morning. Bhupathi Dewan Kumar, nephew of Venkat Ramana, died on the spot, while Yerransetti Mohan Ganesh died on the way to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam.

Narsipatnam ASP B.S. Yesubabu said, Venkat Ramana was earlier arrested in March last year for illegally possessing explosive materials and running an illegal fire cracker unit, and the case is still pending.
