During a visit to Naiduthota in Division 69 on Tuesday along with Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao and MLA P. Rameshbabu, Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu got removed two belt (unauthorised liquor) shops.
Reacting to complaints of locals that running of the shops abutting the BRTS road was leading to accidents due to drunken driving, the Commissioner got them removed.
He directed Assistant Medical Officer Girishbabu to book cases against those running the two shops.
Unless the roads were laid well without ditches in the underground drainage works, bills would not be paid, he warned contractors. Huts on hill-slopes must be removed and buildings seized.
A builder who did not provide proper drainage to residents of Green Treat Apartments should be issued a notice.
The Mayor urged locals to take initiative to remove encroachments on the 100-feet road.
Later at a meeting with zone commissioners, Mr. Ramanjaneyulu directed that firm action be taken to remove kiosks on 40, 60 and 80-feet roads.
The Municipal Commissioner wanted each division to be strengthened and in each zone one division should be turned into a model one and trial runs should begin from September.
The powers and duties of zone commissioners have been detailed.
All grievances should be made at zone-level and if remained unresolved for a fortnight should approach the commissioner with the receipts at the zone.
Zone commissioners should issue building permissions for G+2 buildings. Sanitary inspectors should issue birth and death certificates in the divisions.
