He also demands re-routing of five trains, being diverted through Duvvada, via Visakhapatnam.

Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy has taken up the issue of allocation of new coaches to new trains with the Member (Traffic) of Railway Board Pandey, General Manager of East Coast Railway Rajiv Vishnoi and the Divisional Railway Manager Anil Kumar, according to a statement issued here.

It may be recalled the allocation of old coaches by ECoR, in violation of the Railway Board directions, to new trains originating from Visakhapatnam has drawn flak from various sections.

There are allegations that the spare coaches allotted for these trains were being taken away by the ECoR headquarters.

Mr. Reddy demanded that the ECoR must provide new coaches to new trains and sought that additional AC 2-tier and AC 3-tier and sleeper coaches should be kept standby at Visakhapatnam.

He also demanded re-routing of the five trains, being diverted through Duvvada, via Visakhapatnam, provision of escalators on all platforms in Visakhapatnam and better amenities in Visakhapatnam and Duvvada Railway Stations and Passenger Rail Reservation offices at Tagarapuvalasa, S. Kota, Visakhapatnam Airport and Steel Plant/Parawada.
