Devotees in large numbers thronged Jagannath temple complex on Daspalla Hills to witness the daylong celestial wedding of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvathi on Monday.

The ceremony was performed amid vedic hymns at the newly built Lord Shiva temple as per the traditions observed in Western Odisha.

Sivabhishekam, kalayanam and prasad sevan formed part of daylong celebrations.

This was for the first time that a celestial wedding was performed at the Jagannath temple complex, Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj secretary S.K. Panigrahi said.
