Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Hiralal Samariya on Wednesday said they had a big challenge ahead in allotting new TIN (taxpayer identification number), and informed the traders that April 30 was the last date for online registration.

At an interactive session with officials of the department organised by the FAPCCI here, the traders were told that the numbers would be generated on May 8. Registration certificates would be issued on or after June 2, the appointed date for formation of Telangana.

The traders were told that they would be given option to choose a new TIN for Telangana or the residual State of Andhra Pradesh. Under CST, they were asked to specify the commodities they wanted to trade. The template would be fine-tuned and uploaded on the Web. Suggestions could also be made online.

VASSIWA president Ramakrishna Narappareddy said the proposed tax incentives under the package for Andhra Pradesh should also cover existing MSME units.

Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce & Industry honorary secretary M.V. Narayana Rao sought holiday for payment of commercial taxes for five years as traders in Seemandhra suffered lot of loss in business due to agitation against bifurcation.

Some traders opposed the move to locate the appellate tribunal in the city to a centrally-located place of the residuary State.

Government consultant on revenue Ashutosh Mishra, FAPCCI past president C.V. Atchut Rao, and VCCI vice-president A. Sreerama Murthy were present.
