The first batch of the month-long “Digital Filmmaking and Film acting” course offered by The Department of Theatre Arts, Andhra University in association with Apoorva Creations wrapped up the final shoot of their short film on Tuesday.
Thirty students walked into the course as amateur film makers and were groomed by Nandi Award winner Prasad Rayala to become professionals.
The course was a mix of theory and practical sessions. For their final film, the students are making a film about a child who is dealing with the divorce of her parents.
K.B. Chandramouli who enrolled for the course after completing his B.Tech, says “I used to make films on my own and upload it on social networking sites.
This course has now given me professional training that will go a long way in grooming me to become a better filmmaker.
Apoorva Creations offers students the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment which is a real advantage.”
Students were happy that such a course was being offered in the city as earlier those interested had to travel to Hyderabad and attend courses that were very expensive. Prasad Rayala said that batches will start every alternate month and that the response to the course has been overwhelming.
He even plans to hire his students to work for him in his next directorial venture. “I will be taking the short film that the students have made to various film festivals across the country and hopefully their talent will be recognised.”
