On Wednesday, the police in Visakhapatnam were seen giving the final touches to the security arrangements to the President’s two-day visit to the city.
President Ram Nath Kovind will arrive here on Thursday and he has a number of programmes scheduled in the city and in Eastern Naval Command.
According to a senior police officer, the President in total will be travelling about 100 km by road during the two days. Sanitising the road has been our main focus.
On Thursday BD (bomb disposal squad) and dog squad members were seen checking every nook and corner of the roads on which the presidential convoy is schedule to move. “Being Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, he will be spending most of the time in the Naval Base area and will also be staying there, but we have taken care of all his public functions. And for which we have strengthened our CC TV network and requisitioned more forces to enhance the strength of the security forces,” said the officer.
Apart from manpower, each venue has been scanned by the BD squad and DFMD (door frame metal detectors) have been installed. In addition security personnel will be present with HFMD at all entry points.
