The process for finalising a design for Mudasarlova Park abutting the picturesque reservoir has been finalised.

Signature pavilion with local language motif, front walkway, theme village with local crafts and food-court, ship-shaped theme restaurant, central water body and forest board walk are among the developments proposed, according to a presentation of designs.

VUDA will set in motion the next stage of work soon having in place the master plan and upgrading for the park as international tourist destination. The project will be taken up by VUDA in coordination with A.P. Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation.

VUDA intends to develop a theme- based park that is economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

The cost is estimated around ₹ 30 crore and is expected to be lower once competitive bids are called. VUDA will spend on the development from its own funds, says VUDA Vice-Chairman P Basanth Kumar.

“The project will be taken up on tendering process. First initial infrastructure will be developed and later we will go for revenue generation aspects,” he says.

The agency that has given the design will prepare the detailed estimate based on which tenders will be called for, Mr. Basanth Kumar says. The run-up to laying foundation stone may take about two months.

Detailed Project Report

The AP Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation will hand-hold VUDA in getting the DPR prepared, finalising the tender etc.

However, during a recent presentation the Chief Minister has given his nod to the designs of a Delhi- based consultancy, it was learnt.

The plans of VUDA and the corporation cover development in 20 acres retaining the greenery and ecological sensitive nature of the area. The park has water supply facilities of GVMC in it and is a favourite with the local people for picnics during Kartikam.
