The app is at hand

January 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated December 18, 2019 10:10 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Besides helping people know about the festival, the city, and providing information on the events planned for three days from Thursday, an app for Android phones developed for Visakha Utsav intends to have a participatory role for the people too.

It lists the events lined up for the three days with a brief description.

Right from the inaugural to the valedictory, it gives the schedule and the duration of programmes at Ramakrishna Beach, the main venue.

It helps people plan for the day and choose their favourites.

Mark your favourite

“They can ‘favourite’ the event and we will keep them informed about the number of people who made that particular event their favourite ,” says Krishna Vattipalli, vice-president of Imaginnovate that developed the app and a website.

Hamara.in is the associate partner.

The stalls have not been allotted so far.

The final allotment will be communicated by the authorities by Wednesday evening.

The utsav begins on Friday.

“Once we get the information, we will also upload details of the stalls, their merchandise, etc.,” he says.

The app will share the feedback with the authorities so as to help them improve the arrangements.

Mr. Krishna says that early feedback will help organise the utsav better within the broad framework decided upon.

The feedback is also valuable as it helps in making suitable changes in real time, say, for instance, traffic and crowd management.

The app has maps with directions that will help people find their way to the venues.
