Tension at Congress office

July 17, 2011 12:56 pm | Updated 12:56 pm IST - Visakhapatnam:

A tense situation prevailed at the city Congress office here on Saturday as Samaikyandhra JAC activists burnt hoardings of Congress leaders.

On learning that Congress MLAs had not attended the Vijayawada meeting, the activists torched flexi-boards but were pacified by Youth Congress leaders saying that they would participate in the meeting in New Delhi on Monday.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Dronamraju Srinivas sent a fax message to the Samaikhyandhra JAC that he could not attend the meeting due to unavoidable circumstances.

Earlier, JAC leaders staged a protest in front of the Gandhi statue on the Andhra University campus and demanded the resignation of all MLAs from North Andhra.
