At least ten members of a marriage party were killed and 13 others seriously injured when a lorry collided with a tractor in East Godavari district, police said on Thursday.
The mishap took place last night when the lorry driver lost control over the vehicle and hit the tractor carrying 40 person in Bikkavolu mandal, District Superintendent of Police G. Srinivas said.
Five of the passengers were killed on the spot and the others died on way to hospital. The deceased included a child, they said.
The ill-fated vehicle was coming from Chelluru town.
The injured were admitted to Government General Hospital at Kakinada, police said, adding both drivers fled from the scene.
