Police Commissioner T Yoganand on Tuesday said temporary licences to posses and sell firecrackers would be given to those who fulfil guidelines. He said applicants must compulsorily obtain NoCs from the fire dept., GVMC and APEPDCL.
According to Mr. Yoganand, applicants can directly approach the Assistant Commissioners of Police under their respective sub-division jurisdiction along with applications in form-AE5, for the grant of temporary licences to posses and sell fireworks in connection with Diwali festival.
Apart from the NoCs, the site plan for the temporary shop, agreement copy with the owner of the land or building and a fee of ₹500 paid through treasury challan, should be attached to the application form. The last date for receipt of applications is September 30.
Safety norms
As per the police norms, fireworks shall be kept in a shed made of non-flammable material, which is closed, secured so as to prevent entry by unauthorised persons. The sheds should be at a distance of at least three metres from each other and they should also not face each other. Moreover, oil burning lamps, gas lamps or naked lights should not be used. Electrical lights, if used should be fixed to the wall or ceiling and should not be suspended by flexible wire.
The display of fireworks is not allowed within 50 metres of any shed and in one cluster not more than 50 shops would be given permission. Water should be stored in a barrel of 200 litres and two fire buckets with sand and one for water should be hung on wooden or iron stand at each shop.
