Teamwork works wonders here

It took only 25 days to install signage numbering 26 across the 10 roads of P&T Colony and at all the entry points leading to the neighbourhood from Satyam junction, Nakkavanipalem, MRO Office, Gurudwara, and highway.

All it takes to locate a house here is to look for the directions and reach the destination without a hassle.

P&T Colony has gone in for a fresh coat of paint with a combination of green and white signboards donning the electric poles all along the lanes. Thanks to the recent initiative taken up by the colony’s Residents’ Welfare Association, the locality is sure to set an example with its project costing Rs.31,000.

The concept of erecting water-proof signboards gained significance when president of the association D. Shahji Anand became one of the brand ambassadors of Swachh Bharat campaign.

“The association members played a larger role in completing the new project in time. Considering residents’ views, the initiative has gone through several modifications before hitting the streets. Major portion of the homework was done by my son Gagan Anand, who is also an executive member of the association,” he says.

A well-maintained lotus park in the heart of the colony is the main spot that draws the young and old to treat themselves to a variety of entertaining elements.

An artificial waterfall, a fountain, and a music system are some of the features of the park, which was quick enough to bounce back post- cyclone Hudhud.

“People across all age groups chipped in when the calamity hit the city last year. It was just an example of our teamwork,” say residents.
