It was an opportunity for several students to express their gratitude and respect for their teachers as several institutions celebrated Teachers’ Day here on Tuesday hosting a number of programmes and honouring teachers.
Andhra University celebrated the day in various departments on the campus and rich floral tributes were paid to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Speaking on the occasion Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao urged students to draw inspiration from the great educator.
Later, he participated in the programmes organised by AU Teachers’ Association, Faculty Club and the Department of Education, among others and underlined the importance of time management.
The V-C was accompanied by Registrar V. Uma Maheswara Rao.
The students of Prism College played a proactive role in organising a series of activities to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Integral Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM) celebrated the day by inviting motivational speaker Krishna Dhanam and organising a session on ‘Trading good for better-strategising inside the box for a bigger box’ involving management students. Dean and secretary of IIAM S.P. Ravindra and director Vijaya Rudraraju distributed mementoes to all teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology hosted a lecture programme to mark the day. Some of the professors working in various departments received awards for their significant contribution to the field of education.
Paying floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Nadimpalli Satyanarayana Raju Institute of Technology, the NSS Unit of Avanthi Institute of Engineering and Technology celebrated the day.
Offering floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Sainik School, Korukonda, celebrated the day by presenting Grandhi Kamaraju Memorial Award to mathematics teacher N. Senthil Kumar. The award was instituted by alumnus of the school in memory of his father. Later, Principal of the school Colonel Rudrax Atri honoured teachers of Classes X and XII.
Bala Vikas Foundation (BVF) arranged a meeting for the underprivileged children at the foundation’s Bridge School premises on beach road. Founder of BVF Narava Prakasa Rao garlanded the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
