‘Farm and industrial sectors worst hit’
A ‘maha dharna’ was organised by the Telugu Desam Party to protest against frequent power-cuts, at the corporate office of the Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited at Seethammadhara in Vizag on Thursday.
Hundreds of TDP activists, leaders, MLAs, and MLCs participated in the protest.
The party leaders squatted in the portico of the building and denounced the Congress government for failing to provide at least seven hours of power supply to farmers. The frequent and long power-cuts were affecting not only farmers but also businessmen and the industry.
They said that no other government had resorted to such long power-cuts in the State in the past.
They alleged that Ministers were more worried about protecting their chair rather than finding solution to the problems of people. They also alleged that the Ministers were silent when were made to transfer the gas reserves from Andhra Pradesh to other States. They attributed the situation to lack of foresight on the part of the government.
TDP leaders Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, Nannapaneni Rajakumari, Thummala Nageswara Rao, Bharanikana Rama Rao, Ayyanna Patrudu, Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, Shoba Hymavathi, Kona Tata Rao, and Vani were among those who took part in the protest programme.
