Telugu Desam Party has demanded a health emergency to tackle spread of swine flu, viral fevers and other infectious ailments in the State.

TDP polit bureau member K. Yerran Naidu told reporters here on Sunday that none of the three Health Ministers in the State had ventured to visit the Agency area even as tribals were becoming victims of viral fevers and malaria.

On increase in fuel prices, he came down heavily on the UPA Government at the Centre and said this was the 14{+t}{+h} time that hike had been effected in six years.

He said the poor and the middle class people would be worst hit due to the increase and demanded subsidies to continue till the total eradication of poverty.

He regretted that not a single Congress leader had demanded rollback of the increased amount and alleged that Andhra Pradesh Government was collecting highest taxes on petroleum prices.

Mr. Naidu said that the burden due to the latest hike would come down if the Rosaiah Government reduced the taxes.

On the strike by BC leader Krishnaiah, he said the fee reimbursement due for BC students up to March 31 should be released immediately.

TDP district president Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Visakha East MLA V.R.K Babu, district general secretary Kona Tata Rao, senior leader Bharanikana Rama Rao and others were present.
