Rue over inordinate delay in completion of works

Deploring the delay in completing work on the Asilmetta flyover, the TDP cadres led by Urban wing president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar on Sunday morning organised a novel protest.

Visakhapatnam West Assembly party in-charge P.V.G.R. Naidu (Ganababu), former corporators Nalluri Bhaskara Rao and Gudivada Amarnath and party men played cricket, volleyball and mock-boxed on the flyover.

Former corporator Pilli Varalakshmi and others drew rangolis even as another worker washed clothes on the flyover. Protesting the delay, Mr. Ganesh Kumar said if the authorities were not in a position to complete it even after five years it would be better to hand it over to people for sports and other activities.

Stating that the 11.6 km PV Narasimha Rao Express Highway was completed in three years, he alleged the flyover could not be completed mainly due to the negligence of MPs, ministers and MLAs in the district.

The Railways not handing over land was touted as the reason for the delay, he said.

“If that is the case an all-party meeting should be held and apprised of the situation so that we can go to Delhi to sort it out,” he said.

Former corporators Gogineni Sambasiva Rao, Ommi Sanyasi Rao, Manyala Sombabu, Gandham Srinivasa Rao and Palla Srinivasa Rao and Lodagala Krishna participated.
