Coming together for the first time after striking an electoral alliance, TDP and BJP leaders have vowed to work together paving the way for the success of Narendra Modi at the Centre and N. Chandrababu Naidu in Seemandhra.

Addressing a joint press conference, BJP State president and Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha nominee K. Haribabu and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said they would work together for the success of both parties.

There was a need for strong and able leadership to build the new State and getting co-operation from the Centre to solve the problems that might crop up was crucial, they asserted. Former Mayor D.V. Subba Rao stressed the need for a stable government stating the telecom scams in Tamil Nadu were caused due to the dependence on the ally.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said there could be some heartburn among cadre for not getting the nomination having worked hard for the party. He described those problems as temporary. The parties would iron out the differences and work for transforming the cadre support.

Mr. Haribabu said the parties would work together and Mr. Naidu would participate in the meetings to be addressed by Mr. Modi. He said locally Assembly candidates and he would campaign in a coordinated manner.

The two parties that broke the alliance after the 2004 poll debacle came together after a decade.

TDP (Urban) president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar said a five-member committee would be formed to address problems relating to human resources and cadre support.

Senior leader P.V. Chalapathi Rao said the BJP had decided not to go for Visakhapatnam East and South constituencies as MLA V. Ramakrishnababu nurtured the East and Mr. Ganesh Kumar worked hard in the South. They took the North seat because BJP had good support and contested earlier from there.

BJP has to announce its nominee from North constituency and TDP for Araku Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.

MLA V. Ramakrishnababu and Gajuwaka TDP nominee Palla Srinivasa Rao were present.
