A ‘mock library’ was organised on the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha site near Jagadamba junction on Friday seeking takeover of the land allotted to Pratyusha Associates and construction of a new building to house the library.

The meeting was organised jointly by Zilla Grandhalaya Udyogula Sangham, Pensioners Association, People For India, Democratic Youth Federation of India and Students Federation of India. Retired IAS officer E.A.S. Sarma, MLC M.V.S. Sarma, People For India representatives B.L. Narayana and P. Malleswara Rao, Pensioners Association secretary K. Trimurthulu, Zilla Grandhalaya Udyogula Sangham president G. Muralikrishna, secretary V.V. Srinivasa Rao, DYFI district secretary Prithviraj and SFI Greater Visakha unit representative R.V. Gopala Rao demanded that Minister for Infrastructure and Investments Ganta Srinivasa Rao should immediately hand over the land to the Grandhalaya Samstha for construction of the library building. They warned that the agitation would be intensified with the involvement of all institutions and associations until the land was handed over to the library. A committee “Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha, bhavanala saadhana committee” was formed for this purpose.

The speakers demanded cancellation of the agreement reached between the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha and the Pratyusha Associates in 2010 for construction of a new building as the company had failed to construct the building within the stipulated timeframe of two years.
