Thanks to the initiative taken by SVS Seva Samithi, passengers and the general public using Platform-4 side of Duvvada railway station are having access to pure and cool drinking water in the hot summer.
The samithi, promoted by STBL Projects MD Balaji Veerabhadra Rao, has provided two coolers with four taps for the convenience of the people. While one of the cooler is positioned on the platform, close to the exit/entry for the benefit of passengers, the other one is positioned for the benefit of auto drivers and those coming to drop their near and dear at the station. They need not enter the platform for having access to the water cooler.
The samithi has developed greenery around the new building (entrance) on PF-4 side of Duvvada. Tree guards have been provided and the road margins on the main road outside the entrance have been reinforced with soil. Direction and distance boards to nearby areas have been provided by the samithi for the benefit of newcomers alighting at Duvvada and prevent their being misled by auto drivers.
STBL has also sponsored the salaries of two workers for maintaining cleanliness on the newly developed PF-4 as part of its community service activity. The road from the railway station leading to Sheela Nagar, Gopalapatnam and other areas, which was in a very bad shape, was improved by STBL in coordination with railway authorities. The road also leads to LN Gardens and a couple of other projects of STBL. The seva samithi is running a mini bus, a van and an autorickshaw from its colonies to the railway station primarily for the benefit of residents but they are being used to transport others in times of emergency.
The East Coast Railway authorities have provided some benches and also started work on laying of foundation for construction of two shelters on PF-4.
