Suspected anthrax: two admitted to KGH

Vaccination taken up in 8 villages in Chintapalle mandal

Two persons of Godugumamidi of Chintapalli mandal in the Agency area of the district were admitted to King George Hospital with suspected lesions of anthrax here on Monday.

On enquiry, the district officials came to know that the affected persons had skinned a dead cow and the meat was consumed by villagers. On getting information, the in charge Assistant Director (Animal Husbandry) and his team visited the village and said there were no ailing animals in that village till then.

Their enquiries had revealed that the cow was suspected to have died of snake bite about 10 days ago. Teams were formed and anthrax vaccination is taken up in the village.
