Suresh Prabhu’s remarks on rail zone flayed

The statement of Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu that the UPA government had not given clarity on the new railway zone in Andhra Pradesh has drawn flak from the Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA).

Mr. Suresh Prabhu’s statement after his first meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada, after getting elected as Rajya Sabha Member from Andhra Pradesh was an indication of his delaying tactics, FDNA general secretary A. Aja Sarma said in a statement here on Sunday.

He said it was nothing but cheating the people of AP in general and North Andhra in particular on the railway zone issue as the Railway Minister has been issuing promises to the contrary all more than a year. He recalled that the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 had clarified that the Indian Railways shall, within six months from the appointed day, examine establishing a new railway zone in the successor State of Andhra Pradesh and take an expeditious decision thereon.

He wondered when clarity would be arrived on the issue.
