Support swells against move to shift zoo

Protests against the proposal to shift Indira Gandhi Zoological Park continued to gain momentum with various NGOs, social organisations, and youth associations hitting the road and expressing their concern for protecting the natural zone.

Holding placards that let out a message, ‘Nature and lung space of Vizag need to be protected’, around 45 youngsters and members of various organisations took out a rally on Friday from Visakha Women’s College to RTC Complex.

C.S. Rao, president, Praja Spandana, Prof. V Balamohan Das, former Vice-Chancellor, Acharya Nagarjuna University, J.P. Sharma, former deputy general secretary, SBI Staff Union, Visakhapatnam Module, and Buddha Chandra Sekhar, CEO, New World Software Solutions, were among those who participated in the awareness programme.

Members of India Youth for Society (IYFS), Helping Hearts, and Future India also joined the protest.
