Many devotees got rare opportunity on Friday when sunrays touched the feet of the presiding deity of Lord Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple at Arasavilli temple here in the early hours.
The rays which entered through gopuram fell on the idol of the Sun God from 6.25 to 6.32 am. The event is likely to occur on Saturday and Sunday.
The temple authorities and Trust Board decided to allow devotees on Sunday too though more pilgrims are expected to witness the auspicious happening on the day of Maha Sivaratri.
Normally, the sunrays touch the feet of the deity in March second week in ‘Uttarayanam’ and first week of October in ‘Dakshinayanam’.
The temple was constructed in such way that they rays would touch the idol though it was installed at a distant place from main entrance.
The rays would enter the temple through Gopuram and fall on Dwajastabham and later touch the deity’s feet.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the temple premises and the temple authorities made arrangements to avoid jostling in the queue lines with the bitter experiences on the day of Ratha Saptami.
