Knowledge@Wharton High School (KWHS), part of the global Knowledge@Wharton network of online business journals at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, is launching an innovative summer programme called KWHS Global Young Leaders Academy for high school students from India and other countries.

KWHS is an initiative that promotes finance, entrepreneurship, leadership, and business skills among high school students and educators around the world through content and competitions.

The two-week intensive, summer academic programme will be held in May and June 2015.

Course cost

High school students aged 15-18 years are eligible to apply through BrainGain Magazine, a study-abroad portal that is collaborating with KWHS on this programme.

The programme costs $7,500 per student, including tuition, board and lodging, but excluding international travel.

The KWHS Global Young Leaders Academy draws content selected from more than 400 lesson plans and articles that are available for free to students and educators around the world on the KWHS portal — kwhs.wharton.upenn.edu.

Topics

To be held in Philadelphia, the programme will focus on topics such as economics, finance, entrepreneurship, leadership, social studies, goal setting, and U.S. college admissions. It also includes guest lectures from educators and business executives, as well as team-building sports, games and competitions. The students will also get a chance to be part of a community-service project and will receive a certificate to recognise their volunteer hours.

The programme includes guided tours to historic places of interest in Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, D.C., such as the Penn campus, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Wall Street, the White House, the Empire State Building, Lincoln Memorial, Times Square, Fifth Avenue, and various museums.

Applications for the KWHS Global Young Leaders Academy can be submitted online on http://wharton.brain gainmag.com
