With excitement writ large on their faces, students of GVMC High School, R.P. Peta, Kancharpalem lined up in front of the ‘Moonshot Wheels’, a mini planetarium, to get a glimpse of the space and astronomy.
On Monday, they took turns in going round the exhibits put up at the venue and board the bus to view the concepts related to space technologies from close quarters. What’s more, some of the curious students joined hands to explain 14 science models including eclipse, solar system, and phases of the moon.
In its endeavour to reach out to 40,000 underprivileged students in 12 States, Agastya International Foundation in association with the Team Indus Foundation launched the ‘Moonshot Wheels’ in February at Bengaluru.
Encouraging students to bring out science models aligned with their curriculum and contribute to space field with ‘do-it-yourself’ activities and introducing them to a lunar spacecraft simulator comprising ‘Ek Choti si Asha’ (ECA) moon rover and lander, young instructors explained some of the experiments of the spacecraft through digital presentation.
Gouthami, class VII student, said she aspired to become a space researcher and the avenue fuelled her desire to become one.
‘Moonshot Wheels’ was inaugurated by general manger of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Pankaj Chadha.
The bus will be stationed at GVMC High School, Kancharpalem till Friday and is open for students from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
