Stolen ornaments recovered

A team from the Central Crime Station (CCS), led by inspector Raghu Srinivas, arrested a person and recovered 38 gm of gold ornaments from him.

The accused was identified as C. Ravi Babu (22) alias Ravi of Railway New Colony.

ADCP S. Varada Raju said that the accused had snatched a bag containing gold ornaments from M. Shankar Rao at APSRTC Complex in October 2013.

Shankar Rao, a farmer and resident of Sakipalli in Srikakulam district, had come to Visakhapatnam to pledge the gold as he was in need of money. As he alighted from bus, Ravi snatched the bag and ran away. However, Shankar Rao did not book a complaint then.

On November 27 this year, Shankar Rao had come to Visakhapatnam and saw the accused loitering around the RTC Complex. On recognising him, Shankar Rao booked a complaint. After tracking the accused, the CCS team arrested him near Chavulamadum junction on Friday.

In another case, the CCS team arrested A. Gowri for barging into a house and robbing gold ornaments weighing 50 gm after threatening a 74-year-old woman.

The accuses is a resident of Simliguda in Odisha.
