The verification done in villages declared open defecation-free had rvealed that in some houses toilets were not constructed and some were not using the ones constructed, Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj, K.S. Jawahar Reddy said on Wednesday. To overcome site problems, common toilets should be constructed.
He assured to consider the request of the Collector that additional funds be sanctioned for toilets in inaccessible areas. On payment for toilets constructed without approval, he said if they were constructed after October 2, 2014, they should be included in Swachh Bharat Mission but payments should be made after resolution in gram sabha.
An intensive campaign on construction and use of toilets should be carried out, he said. Collector Pravin Kumar said so far 123 villages in the district were declared ODF and another 803 remain to be covered. Lack of site, migration and disputes over site were the reasons. The toilets grounded would be completed by February 15.

While 30 of them were in various stages of completion, for 10 tenders had to be finalised and 13 awaited the approval of the Forest Department and eight of them were in Maoist-affected area and one came to a halt.
