State dental conference from today

About 1,000 practising dentists and over 500 students will participate in the 31st Andhra Pradesh State Dental Conference which will be formally inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (Higher Education) at the Andhra University Convocation Hall on Saturday.

In fact, the pre-conference sessions already began on Friday and as many as 300 scientific papers on the latest trends in dentistry would be presented during the three-day conference that concludes on Sunday, organising chairman of the conference Chalasani Sri Krishna told media persons on Friday. The theme of the conference would be ‘Exploring new heights' in that the trend had changed from removal of tooth in the past to protection of teeth at present, he explained.

Also, an exhibition-cum-sale of dental material would be organised at the venue, he said.

Organising secretary D.V.R. Raju said every latest technology and new technique should be known to dentists and students.

When a reporter pointed out that dental treatment had become expensive, he replied that latest material had to be imported. There was need for the Government to take measures to ensure the cost was low, he stated. Co-chairman K. Vijay Kumar Raju and others were present.
