State committed to welfare of Dalits, says Ravela

Minister for Tribal Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu has said that the Chandrababu Naidu government is committed to the uplift of the tribal and Dalit people through implementation of various social welfare schemes.

Participating as chief guest in the ‘Chandranna Runa Mela’ organised at AU College of Engineering (AUCE) grounds here on Sunday, he distributed loans to beneficiaries under various schemes through various government departments.

He said that the government had introduced Ambedkar Overseas Education and Ambedkar Vidya Nidhi to enable educated persons from SC/ST communities to go for higher studies abroad. Special coaching was being given to students from these communities for taking the civil services examinations. Youth training centres would be developed as skill training centres to provide training to 60,000 tribal youths in the State. He said that the coffee project was being developed with Rs.5,926 crore to benefit 2 lakh tribal people, he added.

Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the government had allocated funds under the SC, ST and BC sub-plans.

The adoption of Araku village by the Chief Minister was an indication of his love for the tribal people.

Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivasa Rao, MLC M.V.V.S. Murthy and Joint Collector J. Nivas spoke.
