hief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will pay homage to the martyrs at the War Memorial on Thursday to mark the beginning of International Fleet Review 2016 activities.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R.K. Dhowan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Satish Soni and commanding officers of foreign naval ships would also lay wreaths at the War Memorial as a mark of respect to the fallen heroes.
The Victory at Sea War Memorial on the Beach Road is a reminder to the public of the heroic efforts and the sacrifice that their brethren made for the country.
Later, the Chief Minister would inaugurate the Maritime Exhibition (MAREX) on the theme – Innovation, Youth and Indigenisation – at the Andhra University Engineering College Grounds in the presence of the Chief of Naval Staff, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief and commanding officers of visiting foreign naval ships.
The exhibition focuses on Prime Minister’s vision of “ Make in India ”. Various Indian Industries and organisations will be setting up an array of 74 stalls showcasing the self-reliance of Indian Navy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the exhibition on February 6.
US Chief of Naval Ops
Chief of Naval Operations of United States of America Admiral John Richardson would be participating in the International Fleet Review. During his first visit to India he would be visiting New Delhi and from there travel to the City for the IFR. While in the City, the US Admiral would meet with sailors from USS Antietam (CG 54), a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, and USS McCampbell (DDG 85), an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer.
International City Parade
The IFR Village and Maritime Exhibition will remain closed on February 7, in view of Operational Demo and International City Parade.
