The city was immersed in the Teachers’ Day celebrations on Thursday. Schools donned a fresh look where teachers and students dressesed up colourfully to share their joy with the little ones. The day, which is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of former President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was celebrated with gaiety at The Presidential School where children entertained their teachers with a line of performances and a few spoke about the unconditional contribution of the teacher to society. Executive head of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Swami Amrita Anandaji attended as chief guest. As a token of appreciation, gifts were given away to the teachers by president of the school D.S. Anand
To facilitate teachers and students drink pure water, State Bank of India, Seethammadhara branch, donated a water purifier to Mandal Praja Parishad Primary School at Deenadayalpuram near Chinagadili mandal on Teachers’ Day. Chief manager of the branch M.A.S.V.S. Murthy said that the bank aims at spending a part of its profits to serve the needy every year. Later, headmaster of the school Appala Naidu thanked the staff members of the bank for the kind gesture.
At GITAM University tributes were paid to Dr. Radhakrishnan where Vice-Chancellor of the university G. Subrahmanyam, Pro Vice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana, Registrar M. Potharaju, librarian Naagamani and staff members participated. Prof. Subrahmanyam underlined the need to develop self-discipline, commitment and dedication towards their profession. He said that teachers play a role in guiding and instilling values, brotherhood and humanity among the students.
Freedom fighter V.R. Maya Devi spoke about the impact of teachers influence on students at GVP MLBT School. “Teachers help in guiding and moulding the students to become future citizens of the country,” she said. Principal of the school K. Madhuravani said that teachers, as much as the parents, play a key role in the upbringing of the child. Registrar of Andhra University K. Rama Mohan Rao, secretary of the school V. Sriramamurthy and staff members participated in the felicitation ceremony.
Bala Karmika Vidya Vikasa Kendram celebrated the day inviting convener of Forum for Better Visakha E.A.S. Sarma who highlighted the importance of education and told students to work hard to achieve their objectives. Social worker Latha Murthy, secretary of Bala Vikas Foundation Narava Prakasa Rao along with others participated in paying tributes to Dr. Radhakrishnan.
Some of the students of Ramakrishna School, dressed as teachers, shared the responsibility of the teachers as they have taken few classes for the students of lower classes on the day. Principal of the school G.V. Ravindrudu along with the staff members were present.
Students of higher classes of Andhra University High School visited the school as teachers and taught lessons to the students of lower classes. Later, they paid tributes to the statue of Dr. Radhakrishnanan showering flowers before felicitating the teachers.
At Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Science, Vice-Chancellor of AU G.S.N. Raju was felicitated by secretary and correspondent of ANITS to mark the Teachers’ Day. Principal of ANITS V.S.R.K. Prasad, director (Admin) R. Govardhana Rao, students and teaching staff participated in the celebrations. Prof. Raju said: “If you think you know everything, you immediately stop to learn. For a teacher, everyday is a learning day and the process of learning is never ending.”
