SpiceJet likely to revive Tirupati flight

March 26, 2013 04:17 pm | Updated 04:17 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

SpiceJet is considering the re-introduction of the Vizag-Tirumala direct flight with ‘darshan’ (package by AP Tourism) at Tirumala. It may be recalled that the airline had withdrawn the service due to lack of demand.

A meeting was organised by the Information Technology Association, Air Travellers’ Association, Chamber of Commerce, Hotelier’s Association and others on February 20.

During the meeting vice president of I.T. Association O. Naresh Kumar appealed to Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari for a special package for air travellers from Visakhapatnam to Tirupati on the lines of that being extended to passengers from Hyderabad to Tirupati.

Mr. Naresh Kumar apprised the Minister that SpiceJet had agreed to restore the service provided such a package was introduced. The AP Tourism is pursuing the matter at the highest level and SpiceJet agreed to consider re-introduction provided the passenger traffic was good.
