November 03, 2012 03:11 pm | Updated June 22, 2016 01:29 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

There is good news for fresh passport applicants who have failed to get slots online. Special counters are being opened at Passport Office at Marripalem VUDA Colony here on November 7 and 8 for applicants to directly walk in on those two days.

Applicants from East and West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Regional Passport Office have to visit the website www.passportindia.gov.in and download the printed form from the link “view/print submitted form” (two pages with provision for photo and signature/thumb impression) on applicant’s home page after selecting the ARN (Application Reference Number) for which the form has been submitted.

The applicant has to bring the two pages (printed form) affixing the photograph and signature/thumb impression in the space provided. The applicant should affix a recent colour photograph (4.5 cm X 3.5 cm) against a white background. They should also take a self-attested copy of each of the required documents and the application fee of Rs.1,500, which will be accepted in cash.

Original certificates would be verified at the time of submission. The candidates have to go in person and third party applications would not be accepted. The special counters would be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both the days. “The application forms will be sent online to the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) at Muralinagar, where the processing would be done and sent to the police for verification. The special drive will be particularly useful to students appearing for TOEFL, GRE and other examinations and require passports urgently but fail to get slots online,” Passport Officer A.T. Murthy told newsmen who met him on Friday.
