SP strikes a chord in Maoist’s village

As part of the District Police’ Sadbhavana Yatra, Superintendent of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal along with some senior police officers on Monday visited Kommangi in Chintapalli mandal, the native village of a senior CPI (Maoist) leader Kudumula Venkata Rao alias Ravi. Mr. Duggal meet Ravi’s parents at their house and enquired about their welfare. He was given a traditional welcome by Ravi’s mother. The police during February arranged eye surgery for Ravi’s father Sriramamurthy in a city hospital along with some other villagers.

Mr. Duggal once again urged Ravi’s parents to give a call to their son to surrender.

“He will be rehabilitated in full measure if he surrenders and joins the mainstream. Ravi would not be harassed with police cases and the entire reward on his head would be given to him,” Mr. Duggal assured. Ravi could surrender and support his old parents and family and also the village, he felt. Kommangi was adopted by the police and the SP assured the villagers that all their needs would be taken up with the District Collector and the government and the facilities like a proper road to the village and a borewell, sought by the local women, would be provided. OSD Narsipatnam A.R. Damodhar, Deputy SP of Chintapalli E.G. Ashok Kumar, SBX Inspector A. Venkata Rao, Chintapalli CI Prasad, sub-inspectors Tarakeswara Rao and Umamaheswara Rao and others accompanied Mr. Duggal.

During an interaction with the villagers, Mr. Duggal said the villagers could contact him directly to explain their problems and needs.

He expressed his happiness at a woman from the village receiving Ph.D. from Andhra University for her thesis on Girijans problems.

He handed over study material for unemployed youth to prepare for competitive examinations and the APPSC Group I and II examinations.

He also visited a Durga temple built by the police.
