Safety in industries must be ensured by taking all necessary steps, Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma told representatives of industries located at SEZ under APIIC control at a meeting held at APIIC conference hall at Atchyutapuram on Friday evening.

Employees must be told about the safety norms, the temporary and contract workers should be trained in safety aspects before they are engaged and mock-drills must be done frequently, Mr. Sharma told the industries’ representatives.

Display boards on safety measures and surveillance cameras in an industry’s premises are a must, he said. Employees have to be trained in steps to be taken in case of accidents in chemical and other industries, the SP said. General managers of 20 industries, ASP of Narsipatnam Aishwarya Rastogi, Inspector of Factories Chinna Rao, APIIC District Zonal Manager Muralimohan, DFO Mohana Rao, Dy.S.P. Y.V. Ramana and others attended.
