The City of Destiny was not destined to witness the conjunction of Venus, Jupiter and Mercury as the sky was cloudy.

Students and other enthusiasts gathered at Beach Road a little after sunset to gaze at the western sky but returned disappointed. Those with tablets and smart phones observed the celestial spectacle with the help of applications that map the night sky.

The students were given a crash course on astronomy by members of the Planetary Society of India. The society also plans to procure telescopes so that they can continue to spread awareness and educate people about the subject.
