Simhachalam gears up for ‘Chandana yatra’

Steps affoot for a hassle-free darshan, says EO

With two lakh devotees expected to worship Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy during ‘Chandanotsavam’ on Wednesday darshan will be from the ‘Niladri gummam.’ ‘Sarva darshan’ begins at 4 a.m. Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy is worshipped on Vaisakha Suddha Tadiya in his ‘nijarupa’ with the layers of sandalwood paste on the idols removed only for one day.

Protocol VIP darshan will be from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The queue lines will be closed at 7 p.m. and all the devotees in the queue at that time will be allowed for darshan. Protocol VIP, VIP and ₹.1000 ticket darshan will be allowed only at the timings designated to them. Entry to ‘Bhogamantapam’ will be closed to devotees at 3.30 a.m. ‘Sahasra ghatabhishekam’ begins at 9 p.m. and layering with sandalwood paste again begins at 11 a.m.

According to Executive Officer K. Ramachandra Mohan, parking space uphill is limited and only vehicles with duty pass and protocol VIP pass will be allowed onto the Ghat Road.

The remaining vehicles will have to be parked at the Gurkul School at Old Adavivaram Junction and at Old Gosala. Drinking water, lighting, tents, carpets and chairs will be provided at the parking lots.

Free buses

From Gosala Junction and Old Adavivaram Junction, 35 free buses will ply to transport devotees uphill. They will ply from 3.30 a.m. on Wednesday. For those with ₹1000 ticket, mini buses will be plied.

The ₹.500 and ₹.200 tickets are being sold at bank branches at the Devasthanam Petrol Bunk at Gopalapatnam and at the Reception Office uphill. On Wednesday day too at the Old Gosala Junction and Adavivaram and at special counters uphill, the tickets will be available.

For differently abled

Darshan for differently abled will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday and one attendant will be allowed with them. Battery-operated car will be run from those who can not walk. Arrangements of shade with bamboo mats are being made along the queue lines atop the hill and Old Gosala and Adavivaram areas and the extent is 25 % more than that of last year, says Mr. Ramachandra Mohan.

Arrangements are also made for distribution of five lakh water packets, snacks and beverages by voluntary organisations. Medical services, ambulance and toilets are also being arranged.

The EO appealed to devotees to wear traditional dress.
