Noted playback singer Shreya Ghoshal will be entertaining the local audience for the first time in the City of Destiny as part of a live concert ‘Music for the Cause’ on the May Day at the Andhra University Engineering College Grounds.
She is also helping a charity cause.
Blood cancer treatment
The show is being held to raise funds to support the city-based State ranker V. Hema who is presently undergoing blood cancer treatment at the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore, said CEO of Spartans Media, a wing of Sri Spartans Funtainments India Private Limited, Kanthi Dutt, at a press conference here on Saturday. “Initially, we thought of providing unique entertainment to the audience. But, once the trust members initiated the proposal of helping the 17-year-old topper to undergo a bone marrow transplant, we readily agreed to raise funds for the purpose through the show”, he said.
The music concert will see Hrishikesh Randel accompanying Shreya Ghoshal and the duo would be treating the audience to a series of popular Bollywood tracks.
Lauding the efforts made by several donors, vice-president of Rohit Memorial Trust Meenakshi Anantram said: “So far we are able to raise Rs.12 lakh for the treatment of the patient, including Rs.3 lakh amount received from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. This apart, MVR Group, Coastal Charitable Trust and Vijay Nirman Company along with others have come forward to contribute to the cause generously. Donations can also be sent directly to the trust or to the treasurer of CMC, Vellore.” Gurmeet Kohli of the trust and father of the patient Madhav Rao also attended the meet.
The music concert is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the venue on May 1 where couples and students can avail special discount.
