Finding an address in any city is a tricky task. You are close to the house or address you want to locate and not being able to do it has a feel of déjà vu for many. Though use of Google maps has made things easy, not everyone is good at it and more importantly many are not netizens yet. Cell phone helps in contacting and getting directions. But is there a simple and plain way that works for everyone?
Lack of signage has assumed immediacy particularly in the backdrop of the city aspiring to become a smart city, says Shahji Anand, president of P&T Colony Residents’ Welfare Association, Sithammadhara.
The RWA immediately got down to the task and decided to set up boards for all 10 the lanes from MRO Office to the Gurudwara. The boards will be modelled on the ones Mr. Anand saw in London.
They will be set up at all entry points – from the highway, the Satyam junction, MRO office, the post office etc. “Anyone entering the colony from any one of the points will be able to go the streets numbered on the boards,” says Mr. Anand.
The boards will have a green background with streets marked in white. Once anyone identifies the street he wants to get in and goes there, the particular house can be easily located as already the residents have door numbers displayed, says Mr. Anand. The plan is to put up the boards by the month-end, he adds.
